Vegan Cookbooks?

Does anyone have any good vegan cookbooks, including any dessert books, that they could suggest to me?  I'm not looking for anything too extreme, just some good books that I can make family meals with.

http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/

I found this website. Maybe it helps.

What a great site, thank you CuGi!

Some of my curret faves (besides Alicia's book of course):

any of isa chandra moskowitz's books -- especially Appetite for Reduction

and

The Vegan Slow Cooker: Simply Set It and Go with 150 Recipes for Intensely Flavorful, Fuss-Free Fare Everyone (Vegan or Not!) Will Devour

My favorite is "Quick and Easy Vegan Comfort Food" by Alicia C. Simpson.  I use it ALL the time!!  Full of all kinds of recipes that are "normal" stuff (like enchiladas, fettuccine alfredo, soups) that really are relatively quick and easy to make.  I've never been too big into cooking, but this is great!

Veganomicon (Moskowitz) is an amazing book!  I've also got Alicia's book, Peas and Thank You (her Double Chocolate, Single Chin brownies are awesome.. plus she has a website, too) and I just bought The Complete Guide to Vegan Food Substitutions by Celine Steen and I love it!  Very informative and makes it super easy to veganize pretty much anything!

Absolute best vegan dessert cookbook: "Sweet Vegan" by Emily Mainquist

Everyday fare favorites: "Skinny Bitch: The Ultimate Everyday Cookbook" by Kim Barnouin; "Clean Food" by Terry Walters; "Happy Herbivore" by Lindsay Nixon

My family loves www.happyherbivore.com and her cookbook.  She has an icon for "kid approved" recipes, so my son looks for the smiley face and then asks me to make him stuff.

I've also just learned about Peas and thank you http://peasandthankyou.com/  I got the book but haven't made anything yet.  Her blog cracks me up!

Of course the Vegan Cupcakes take over the world is awesome too.

Vegan Family Meals by Anne Gentry is quite good ...

This is sort of off the subject, but I have never posted a comment before and I am semi new to the vegan way of life. I have several vegan books, including the "The Kind Diet" and I just watched the documentary, "Forks Over Knives." I am READY to commit to being a vegan!!!!  I live in St.Louis, MO and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to find a doctor that can help me stop taking meds for depression and adopt a plant based diet safely. Please help!.......Thanks <3

Hi Heather,  I can't advise you as I don't live anywhere near you but congrats on becoming vegan!!!  If I were you, I would also find a good natropath that might be able to help you along the way with your diet if you want extra help???   Plus read as much as you can and arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can ... that's what I am trying to do as I am also relatively new.  smiley-smile.gif

1000 vegan recipes by robin robertson... very good one. the only problem is that the recipes made for 6 people and it is hard to cook for yourself like that.

I second the recommendation for Happy Herbivore's website and cookbooks.  The recipes are really easy and really healthy.  Another cookbook I like The 4 Ingredient Vegan, because I get scared away by recipes with a million ingredients.  As far as desert books go, I've heard wonderful things about Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cupcake, cookie and pie books.

Definitely check out Blissful Bites. I have 23 recipes in the Skinny Bitch Ultimate Everyday Cookbook that someone else suggested and it has a good variety of dishes. Isa's dessert books are awesome and easy to convert them if you want to make them healthier (like using natural sweeteners etc)

My favorite cookbook is Clean Food by Terry Walters. It's a must have!
