Veganomicon is an awsome book!!
I bought this book and it has some of the most amazing recipes in it!  My fiance is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and always calls vegan food "bird food".  Well, the other day I made the vegan enchiladas from the book and my fiance ate all the leftovers!!  I had none left for myself!  He hates leftovers btw..so yeah...ppllllttt to him and his "bird food" comments lol  He also loved the rustic pasta from Alicia's book.  I figure if I can get him to eat meat at least one less day a week..then it's a victory :)

my meat-eatin' boyfriend loves the recipes so much that when I made the white bean cassolet he looked up the recipe himself on the internet and tried to replicate it!   love this book!!!
I recently bought this book and made two recipes and both were over done. I was really excited to try some things when I read the book as everything sounds so amazing, but I am 0 for 2. Have you had this problem? Any recipe you can recommend as a must try?
I just bought it also and have heard so many great things about it but so far I've only made the cornbread which came out perfect!  I can't wait to try more.  I even started a "food porn" pic section on my facebook so I could show off all my yummy dishes.  I've also had great luck with The Consious Cook, but they are a bit more complicated and not for the new cook.  I just like a challenge, the corn chowder with cashew cream is amazing!
I've made the vegan enchiladas and they were AMAZING!! My meat-eating fiance ate all the leftovers!!  (he doesn't like vegan food..he calls it bird food and never eats leftovers cause he hates them) I've also made the black bean and mango salad and it turned out amazing too.  I haven't had any issues with food being over-cooked but maybe you have to make adjustments if you're cooking on a gas stove?  Or maybe your oven is just hotter so you can take down the cook time.

I've been using alot of cookbooks and "uncook" books and I find it really helpful to make notes next to the recipe such as if i liked it, if it was easy to make and any adjustments I would make in the future (either spice or cooking).

Yeah, I am thinking it is probably my stove/oven = ) I will try to adjust the cooking time and give a couple other recipes a go. Hopefully that is all it is. I haven't had this problem with other books, which is wha made me wonder.

I do the same thing wtih making notes on recipes. It's so handy when you want to make something you haven't made in a while.

I made the Apple, Peanut butter caramel bars and while, overdone, we still insanely good! It filled the void of sweety and salty granola bars I can no longer eat!

I have been wanting to get this book for a while, thanks for the heads up on it being great! Also, if you want another really great book, try the Vegan Table. I love it!
This one has been on my list, too. I got Vegan Brunch by Isa, and it's excellent, too, but now I'll have to go out and get Veganomicon.
Anything by Isa is fantastic, her baking does use white sugar and flour but you can always sub in a healthier sweetener and flour!
I love Veganomicon! It really is a great book. Just tried  the while bean aoili (sp)? with the portabello mushrooms on a sandwitch yesterday and it was so good. I have liked all of the recipes that I have tried so far.
I love Veganomicon too. I am trying all the recipes and posting the ones I love on my blog with photos.
