Weddings

I went to a wedding last night and was really stuck for what to eat. When I got my invitation we were given a choice as to what meats we wanted. I left that blank, thinking that I would give my husband whatever they served me. I didn't want to be offensive to the bride and ask for special food as were were just friends of the family. I know that not everyone is a vegan or vegetarian, but I expected some consideration. When we were seated, I told the waiter that I would not eat the meat served but may I please get extra vegetables. No luck. I had a few string beans and one potato. Needless to say I was a bit hungry and ate when I got home.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should have done?

Maybe you should have given them a warning that you weren't going to eat meat and that you wanted a double of portion of vegetables instead. It prolly wouldn't have been a hassle to make one more serving of vegetable for the catering staff. :)

A nice venue will accomodate you. They always have a veg option....

With that said, I always prepare myself for ANY event b/c there may not be Luna Bars in yr purse are a great way to get thru if it's just too long to go without eating (and weddings can be long!)

I look at these occassions as purely social events now and not related to a good meal (altho most weddings the food isnt so great b/c even at the nicest place it's hard to feed 100+ ppl at once!)

A. Let them know in advance so catering could have planned better.

B. Called foul as most catering teams have more entrees than expected guests to accommodate for crashers and the like.

C. Stocked some pocket yummies!
