What kind deoderant?
Hi all! I wasn't sure where to put this topic. Groc list? Health? Bathroom? LOL! I am brand new. Have tried 2-3 deoderants that haven't seemed to do too well. May I please have your choices? And should I expect, especially in summer, to have some odor regardless?? Thanks SO much. Tracey
I just put deoderant in search box on this site and found some great info. Please feel freet to still post. I am headed to
Whole Foods later today!
I use two things.  The first, the main one I think everyone should have, is one of those crystal rocks.  I got the one that is just the rock (no fancy applicator thingy) with a lil basket to set it in.  Then I use an "all natural" one over it.  Right now I'm using Alba's Lavender one.  If I don't use the crystal before, though, I am sure to stink. But I like the way I stink now...lol. See, that crystal is going to last you forever.  I've had mine for more than 2 years and it's showing no sign of getting smaller.  But it works!  And you can feel a little something from it.  Now, this is concerning odor.  I still perspire, and that is actually good for you.  It' helps toxins get out or your body, etc.  Now I have had people reccomend corn starch, but even in the summer I wear way too much black for that.  I do keep an extra hanky in my car, though, just in case I feel a need to pat down my pits.  The stuff in the deoderants/antiperspirants that we are so used to that keeps us from producing sweat there is the aluminum which - guess what - causes breast cancer (yup, even in men).  Not only that, but it blocks those pores to where those toxins cant get out. Not cool. Oh, if I'm in a pinch and need to just freshen up really quick, I have this magic stuff I keep in a spray bottle. 1 part rubbing alcohol (I like the wintergreen), 2 parts water, some dashes of essential oil (right now, lavender).I spritz my pits (lol) and feel a good bit fresher and go.  My stink is gone, and this also helps to freshen any part you might need, and cools you down when sprayed on the back of your neck, inside of elbows, inside of knees.  Isn't great when all natural meets wallet friendly???!!!

I feel your pain Tracey. I have tried at least 12 different natural deodorants over the past several years and none of them last for very long, and some do not even work at all. I was so excited to just find Toms Of Maine Long-Lasting Deodorant. It is brand new to their line and it is the best I have ever used...perspiration is kept to a minimal and the smell doesn't come on for hours!  Hope you like it too!  :o)

Honestly, you shouldn't have to use any.  After I had my 1st child, I starting using the cosmetic database like a bible.  I make sure I don't use anything rated less than a 2.  As for deodorants, I stopped using them all together.  The result, a couple of weeks of 'detox' and then pure cleanliness!  Seriously, I don't even need to use a deodorant while exercising.  My philosophy is that if your body is healthy, you won't stink or sweat.  But if I really feel the need to use something, I brush on some baking soda with a makeup brush.  Works wonders and it's natural!

Have you tried Lush products? They have many vegan items that are good quality products on top of being cruelty-free. Here are their deodorants:

I love their shampoos and lotions, too. I use their solid shampoo bars (Gentle Lentil) and their Veganese conditioner is incredible.
When I first switched from the regular aluminum-based antiperspirants, I had a terrible time with sweating.  I was sweating so much it actually stained a couple of shirts.  I was using the Burt's Bees natural spray deoderant at the time and, when I first started, had to apply it several (6-7 or more) time throughout the day!  But then, after a few months of this (basically one spring and summer) it started getting better.  I was basically detoxing, since my body hadn't been allowed to do it in such a long time (I was using things like Degree and stuff).

Now, I just use the Crystal Stick.  I like that one because it is shaped like a regular stick deoderant and is very easy to use.  I rarely ever have to apply it more than once in a day.  I also dry brush before my shower, and make sure to pay special attention to the pits (as well as the other lymph spots).  That really helps to bring any negative properties to the surface so they can be washed away in the shower.

My SO has also switched over to the crystal deoderant, although he prefers the spray one.  He says that it seems to work as well as any other deoderant he's tried before, although I've noticed he can go longer between applications before I start to notice odor from him.

Just like changing your diet, there will be a detox/adjustment period when you change to a more natural deoderant but, IMO, it is very worth it!
Hi Ladies! You have got to try Lavanila's 'The Healthy Deodarant'. It can be a little pricy, but it's the best deodarnat I have ever tried. It also goes a long ways. It is completely natural, no harsh chemicals and not tested on animals. I have tried just about every natural deodarant out there and for me this the only deodarant that doesn't make me stink. My favorite is the Vanilla Grapefruit and Vanilla Lavendar!
Green People has a deo that works really well! I am, sad to admit, a stinker when I am working 12 hours shifts and that one seems to work and holds up even through a super long day!
simply divine botanicals. crystal ally in lavender. yum
