Who'd a thunk...
It all started last Monday night, I couldn't sleep so I started surfing the web. I ended up on Ellen DeGeneres' website, which had me reading about the vegan lifestyle, which led me to Alicia and had me downloading her book.... I only read a couple chapters before I decided to force myself to sleep (needless to say I didn't get much that night as my mind was whirring). When I drug myself out of bed in the morning i found the seed was definitely planted, and as I went through my day I became more determined that changing to a vegan lifestyle was something I needed to do! I am 44 years old and have never even entertained the idea of being a vegetarian, let alone being vegan. But ignorance can no longer be my excuse. So it's now been my 5th day, and so far so good....I haven't even started craving my pretzel MnM's...yet =\ My fiancé and both teenage boys are supportive...in that they are willing to try my dishes but aren't willing to switch over...yet =) I thank you Alicia for your enlightening book and your wonderfully supportive and informative website.... Thank you all in advance for any help, suggestions, and/or recipes Here I GO!

Hi Ginger Rice,

Yay! Welcome! You are so lucky to have a supportive family. An open mind goes a long way.

If you're looking for any easy recipes, I have a blog where I've posted some recipes and some of my own experiences switching from omni to vegan: http://www.marystestkitchen.com.

Hope that helps

mary :-)

I too have explored the Ellen website on being vegan. I really enjoy hearing about Ellen and her wife both being vegans, its really inspiring. I'm going vegetarian one baby-spinach-step at a time :)
