Yoga DVD recommendations?

Hi everyone!  I love to workout at home and really want to get into yoga.  I've gone to the studio a bunch of times, but it can get pricey.  Do you have any yoga DVD recommendations?  I've done the Jillian Michaels one a few times, but I'm not a huge fan.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Thanks! :)

I've bought Maya Fiennes Detox and Destress kundalini yoga, and I like it.  Only done a few times, but I've enjoyed it

i do the jillian one sometimes but its not really relaxing lol, i got body by bethenny (frankel) and its a good workout not to hard but you feel it and its def relaxing

Not a DVD but I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the free Yogamazing Podcasts from Itunes (or you can buy them for $2 each at Yogamazing.com). Short, sweet, relaxing and a podcast for every need - from sciatica to runners to anxiety.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions.  You've been so helpful! :)

(And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't find Jillian's DVD to be very relaxing!)

I like Rodney Yee's AM Yoga.  It has 5 different workouts, each under 30 minutes.  They're not advanced workouts, but a great way to start or end your day.  I agree, Jillian's DVD isn't relaxing, but it's great if I feel like doing something a little different.

Danielle- Rodney Yee's DVD sounds good.  I'm definitely not advanced, so they might be perfect for my level.

Any yoga journal dvds are wonderful. I love them all. I also like to make my own sequences. They have a page on the YJ website that you can make your own and print them off. That and some relaxing music is wondeful. Then you can go right into your daily meditation when you are finished with your practice. Love yoga....it is truly life changing! Good luck!!!!

Peace....love....and veggies!!!!!

Hi Erin!

For years, I have enjoyed Gaiam Living Arts' TOTAL YOGA. In fact, I've enjoyed it for so long, that I have my original copy on VHS tape! :-)

It's about 60 minutes long but I have found that one can just do the first 30 minutes and feel benefits from it.

I have found that I when I practice this at night, I sleep incredibly deep and sound. And if I do it in the morning, I feel "blissed" out all day long!

Namaste,

Moe

I like Yogaworks Body Slim.  It's fairly challenging and the instructor is great.

Yoga is good for health..DVD recomendation is also good if you are a begineer...But yoga is the key of good health.....

Yogalosophy by Mandy Ingber is great! :D Really recommend it.

I love any of Eoin Finn's DVD's, I have Pure and Simple Yoga, which is a 40 minute session that you have the choice of playing in beginner, intermediate or both (in a dual screen.

He also has Power Yoga for Happiness, which has a selection of sessions (4 or 5) ranging from 30 minutes to 80 minutes. I love the Quickie session, it's a great pace for a nice quick stretch.

His DVD's also come with some meditiation tips and videos in the special features.

Yoga dvd's can be great but if you are a beginner I would highly recommend you going to lessons with a good yoga teacher or you can easily easily be doing postures incorrectly without any knowledge...I am a yoga teacher and have been practising for 12 years...Not only could you hurt yourself, but you are not gaining the full benefits if practising incorrectly.

Namaste!

I'm a tv junkie so I got into yoga first when I bought Body by Bethenny, in which Kristin McGee instructs as Bethenny Frankel, RHONYC Alum, follows along.

I will say that this DVD has nice camera angles and is easy to follow along with, but Kristen talking with Bethenny on and off is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing in that you are distracted (in a good way!) while you're holding poses, but at the same time, some of the same poses are held longer on one side of the body than the other because they are chit chatting. Some days it annoys me, others it doesn't—but I guess I'd like my workout to be a litle more even! It's still a nice advanced beginner dvd I think, nothing too intense. Anyway, I found the DVD to be a little too advanced as novice— I should have started somewhere else, but I've used the DVD enough that I've gotten the hang of it and am getting something out of my workouts.

I also tried to follow along with a few different Gaiam workouts on Hulu that are free to watch—some of those were simple and a good beginning point for me. There is one in particular that is sort of an athletic-based yoga that is excellent for true novices as it gets you used to yoga poses and yoga-like stretches without the lingo. A half moon is sort of my goal-pose to be able to do right now without a block, but I'm trying to stay away from anything too advanced until I can.

I've just bought Rodney Yee's Yoga For Beginners so I can try to correct and relearn poses and be sure I'm doing things right before moving on to anything too advanced. I notice some joint pain when I'm doing poses on one day vs. another, and I think that might be attributed to those little corrections I need. I'm hoping this DVD helps with those problems.

I also just recieved Kristin McGee's Power Yoga as an Xmas gift, and am hoping to get into that after I work with Rodney a bit. I'll report back and will let you know how they work out! :)
