I wanted to share another post that my childhood friend Suzannah Scully recently wrote:

"This week’s topic: When change is hard

This week I read something on problem solving that really resonated with me. It talked about how to make change when change is hard. They argued that as a society, we always go to fixing the problem as opposed to doing more of what’s working right. And when you think about it, the latter is so much easier. Let’s say as a manager, 9 out of 10 of your employees are failing to meet their goals. Instead of figuring out what is wrong with those 9 people’s behavior, focus on the one person who is succeeding. What are they doing right? What qualities does that person have? What is different about them or their behavior? And then bring more of that into your team.

I thought you could apply this to anywhere in your life where things feel “off”. Don’t worry about what’s not working in your life, focus on what is and do more of that. We often focus on what we’re not good at or what we can’t do. Well, we all can do something. What is it for you and how can you do more of it in your life?

“Find a bright spot and clone it.”

-Excerpt from the book Switch: Don't Solve Problems--Copy Success by Dan & Chip Heath"

And here was something I wrote last week, it seems to go hand in hand:

Cultivate your preferences.
Cultivate your desires.

Allow yourself to go very quiet and watch your breath.
Watch how it dances, gets stuck, doesn't move, flows for a miracle moment.

In your preferences and your desires and in your breath you will get closer and closer to your truth.

Follow it with passion and grace.

Bring in more light.
Follow your heart.

Let yourself be your truest, happiest self.

Love,
Alicia

p.s. the little girl in the photo is me!

What a wonderful reminder on how to change focus from the negative to the positive...thank you!

That's one of my favourite posts. Thanks for sharing.

And the little Alicia in the picture is adding the text that inner pure thoughts that we had when we were really young are still there. ;)
Thank you for the beautiful words, Suzannah. It helps with my perspective. I am facing challenges in one of my classes and instead of dealing with it negatively, I will make it positive. I will use it in life as well.
Both of you are totally speaking the law of attraction...which starts with our thoughts.  I invite everyone to pay attention to what they think about today...watch the quiet sneaky voices as well!  When you hear something that makes you feel bad, you know, without a doubt, you are disconnecting from your Source.  And surprise, you can think of something else!  When another thought comes in and says "I can't think about something else, what I am thinking about is fact, it is true!"  Follow Alicia's friend and acknowledge the fact...my bank account is low, my husband forgot the dishes...again and then move on to happier thoughts, to what is working...I am getting paid today, I have a job, an interview, unemployent and he did bring me a vegatarian mag the other night and he fixed the computer without me asking!  These happy-feeling thoughts don't change your current circumstances but they plant seeds for a more fruitful one in the future.  Keep thinking happy thoughts!  And remember you ALWAYS have a choice with EVERY thought to agree or disagree with it...even if it looks like and smells like and quacks like a fact!

Oh WOW...this almost got me misty it SO resonated. Goodness, if we could all operate this way - the way Suzannah and yourself and the people here are operating...the world would be a paradise.

SO MUCH emphasis on the negative SO much of the time - it gets incredibly heavy, doesn't it?  I REJOICE when I see those that resist and even reverse that - it's what drew me here and keeps me here.

It's like a great character says in my favorite show "LOST":
"Don't tell me what I CAN'T do!"    :-D

I love reading things like this because it makes me think positively again, school is very stressful right now and sometimes I feel like I'm not good at what I do, and yada yada, but I need to focus on the things that I am good at in design and focus on them :)

Thanks for the note!
I love this thought process !  The poem was beautiful...
