kitten season
Right now, lots and lots of cute kittens are being abandoned at shelters around Los Angeles, and Much Love Animal Rescue is doing their best to help. Unfortunately, they are overwhelmed, and kittens are being euthanized by the dozen. Let’s do whatever we can to improve this situation ASAP!

kitten season
Much Love Animal Rescue desperately needs donations and adoptions to be able to continue taking in kittens. Here’s how you can help:

  • If you live in LA and are able to adopt, visit one of Much Love Animal Rescue’s mobile adoption centers here.
  • To donate, please make checks out to Much Love Animal Rescue and send to:

Much Love Animal Rescue
PO Box 341721
LA, CA 90034-1721

You can also always donate old blankets to animal shelters. Most dogs in shelters have to sleep on concrete, no matter what the weather, so a blanket is a wonderful gift for them.

Thank you for any help you can give. What shelters in your area need help? Tell us in the comments below so Kind Lifers near you can help out!

I am repeating this post as the past 6 weeks I have been involved  in a feral rescue in my own neighborhood.  I quickly formed a small posse of women to help out and we found wonderful local organizations that help with resources such as Community Cat Care that helped with giving us some vouchers to have some of the cats spayed and neutered along with another local organization that helps find homes for the kittens called CLAWS.  I know there are other many rescue organizations out there it just may take some calls to find them.

We spayed and neutered 9 adult cats and 11 kittens.  We found 5 of the kittens that were 12 weeks old approximately a ranch/barn home after we had them fixed. We fostered the others and I am truly amazed at how well the babies socialized to us and are some of the sweetest kittens I have seen.  Of course I decided to keep one of the kittens as it became such a moma's boy I could not let him go.  I am enjoying him immensly as he is filling our home with so much love and laughter.

After this experience I now know what is involved in lending a hand to help out a feral colony which we also socialized some of the kittens and it is very rewarding work.

Please do whatever you can to lend a hand or to donate money to these organizations because they need all the support that they can get.

I just rescued a very young kitten from a woodpile near my house. We live in the mountains. I posted fliers and made phone calls, no replys. I couldn't keep her, my son was highly allergic to this particular kitten. So I called the local vet hospital and they promised me that I could bring her in and they would find a very nice home for her. When I dropped her off I felt such possitive energy coming from all the employees there, even the vet and all the office staff had to come out and greet this little girl. they said they would give me a call if they couldn't find a home, but they were so possitive that they could.

I called the vet the recently and they said that my rescued kitten was given a very nice home with a really great family. smiley-smile.gif

yeah! how is this different from geonocide,

I'm like its like the holocaust in a way with cats and dogs

(they did used to beat them I read, drown them, they do that in China I heard,

how?

of course, the meat factories, lets not get in the egg factories

male chicks are ground up alive!!!really,

gassing is nothing compared to that, but still horrific

people's minds are corrupted and confused, caught up in ego, or who knows

we do have to have compassion for them, I mean, to do that? geese

really, all living beings should be happy and free,

there's a chant for that : Loka Smasata Sukino Bavantu

maybe we should all chant that each day!

and pray!!!!!!!!

go check out Saul David Raye in L.A. I learned that from my thai yoga teacher who studied with him, bakti yogi...

To a no kill world!

I'm sorry to say btw, the Human Society Euthanizes, as does the ASPCA, anti cruelty

they try, but there's a time limit

The North Shore Animal League is the biggest in the country 's no kill

it's out east,   touching website, rescued a kitten thrown out of a car window!

ok, I'll leave room for others to write,

I just have a lot to say on the subject, I love cats, and have been so helped by them too!

I highly reccomend animal communication, there's online/teleclasses

and the intro is free!  that's so cool, to talk to your pet (they're quite wise)

the host's cat feng shuied her house and her business trippled

I didn't know you could donate blankets to animal shelters. That's great! My daughter has a ton of old baby blankets she can donate and I bet she would love to go and visit all the animals. I'll be working on finding one nearby this weekend!

We need to help others in our communities with getting their animals spayed and neutered.  For example, perhaps your neighbor simply needs help transporting a pet to the clinic.  Often folks just do not know that there are local low-cost (sometimes free) spay/neuter clinics available.  http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/spayneuter/  We need to communicate and offer assistance to others.  Use the internet, post fliers, or just talk to others.

I would recommend looking into TNR (trap, neuter, release) if you are interested in helping to control cat overpopulation.  I own a humane trap (they are inexpensive and available at farm/tractor stores), and will use it in an area where I know there are any stray cats.  You should have a plan if you want to try this.  Make a spay/neuter appointment, and set the trap the night before the appointment.  Get involved with your local shelter.  They may be able to house a cat after surgery until it is ready to be released.  Or, invest in a large crate for a cat to recover at your home.  Of course, you will need a litterbox, food, water, and a blanket or towel (something for a bed).  Also invest in some long heavy duty gloves.  Feral cats can be dangerous to you, but it is just because they are scared.  Get them spayed or neutered and release them back exactly where you trapped them if it is safe.

Some organizations have loaner traps available.  Also, some organizations will work with you on the cost of surgery if you are trapping.  Donate money if you can.

I truly believe that spay and neuter education should be included in high school sex education classes.  That's what it is!  Sex and birth control.  So many children and adults have no idea what spaying and neutering is.  EDUCATION

I wanted to add that I am more than happy to communicate with anyone looking for advice on trapping or anything else.

You can really help the homeless if you have a barn, farm, or just a nice outdoor area for cats to live.  Many shelter cats are feral or semi-feral and will never be adopted.  There are never enough volunteers to work with all the cats and get them all super friendly.  Contact your local shelter if you can provide a nice home for "barn cats".  You should be able to adopt these cats at no cost, but donate money if you can.

These cats should live in a large crate in the barn or outdoor area for a couple of weeks or more.  This is how they get used to their new home.  They learn that they will be fed and taken care of.  They will be less likely to take off after being released from the crate.  You will need to clean a litterbox during this time.  Some shelters may have a crate for you to borrow.  You may need long heavy duty gloves as a precaution when cleaning the crate.

I say adopt at least two outdoor cats.  They should have a friend.  They need to be spayed or neutered.  It is not a good thing if you or someone you know is feeding stray cats, but not getting them spayed or neutered.

I've rescued 2 cats but i would love more. I like in the UK though, so adopting would be awkward... And i don't have a cheque book. But it would be really cool if these guys had an online donation system because i would, and many other would i know, donate all they could.
