A while ago, I blogged about Bill Clinton’s revelation that he was following a vegan diet – so I was thrilled to see this recent interview about the success he’s experienced. He has been vegan for over a year and has lost over twenty pounds. His new diet is reversing his heart disease and has literally saved his life! He says that he loves the taste of fruits and veggies now… this is the guy who used to live for hamburgers and donuts. I’m so happy for him!

Clinton is now spreading his message to kids through a partnership between The Clinton Foundation and The American Heart Association. What do you think his next step should be?

Watch the video above, then read the full interview at CNN.com and tell me what you think in the comments below!

LOL He ate one bite of turkey at thanksgiving! Sometimes you have to test to make sure that the lifestyle you are living is the correct one and that you are living it for the right reasons. I know some people who force themselves to be vegan for who knows what reason...health, being part of the bandwagon, etc. They claim to be vegan and then they admit to scarfing down a chicken leg because they were craving it so bad. They claim to feel guilty and then they go back to being "vegan" until the next breakdown episode. I'm proud to be vegan for health reasons and I love it and don't regret it! I'm with Elizabeth, I'm sure most vegans have tested the waters at least once during their vegan life!!

I have this saved on my DVr and will finally get around to watching it today., I am so excited, huge fan of Bill! I have been vegan for almost a year and half and my boyfriend began his vegan journey just over 3 months ago. I can't wait for the inspiration coming later on today from this report!

This special was a turning point in my carnivore/herbivore household.  My boyfriend is Swiss and loves cooking with lots of butter and endless amounts of cheese and, before we were together, NO VEGETABLES.  I've managed to get him used to vegetables everyday but can't get him off the red meat and dairy.  He has a history of heart disease and his father died of a heart attack at 49.  With all my literature around the house and my cooking, he somehow still couldn't be entirely convinced until we caught this special on our vacation.  He admires President Clinton to no end and this just sealed it for him.  Perhaps seeing President Clinton really normalized this lifestyle but franky I don't know which part of the program in particular and I don't care! I'm so proud that he really made this decision for himself and if I know him, he never quits.  Not to mention, our grocery shopping will certainly be more agreeable!  So glad you posted this :)

I watched the interview posted on this site and went to the CNN site and watched the interview posted there. Both spots only had 60 seconds of the interview. Where can I see the entire thing???

Hi happy angels!

Bill Clinton an Oxford grad and and Hillary Clinton a Yale grad, I really like their speech and communication methods for politicians, temperate and mild , intelligent. It is good you know that they are doing well!

Thank you  so much for posting this and to others that posted the link to the entire CNN report. It reminded me of 'Forks over Knives', but with a speaker that people feel they 'know' - Bill Clinton. I learnt a lot and now want to find out where I can get that testing (even though I don't think I'm at risk at all) - please let me know if any of you know.

I'm back to teaching Foods and Nutrition this year at a highschool in Vancouver, B.C., Canada and was especially intrigued as our curriculum is DEFINITELY not vegan. This will be the 1st time teaching foods since I became vegan in January. I'm a bit apprehensive with all my new 'wisdom' and trying to input it subtly without getting in trouble with the parents. Which my omnivore family has stated that I definitely could get in trouble if I encouraged the vegan lifestyle, as I would if I encouraged a religion or political view.

This video helped to inspire me to share the link with my colleagues across the province (we have a big email list of the home economics teachers). I guess that is step #1.   :)

I am sure happy for him and it is very important to have a high profile individual speak out on being Vegan.  I do hope that he doesn't give in again to a craving for turkey.  I've been a Vegan for two years and I am so grateful that I am.   It was the "The Kind Diet" that had influenced me to become a Vegan.  My wife and youngest son are also now Vegans.  Thank you Alicia!!
