I love Maddison Avenue Candles because they come in really pretty glass jars.  They don't really smell when you light them, but they smell amazing when you stick your nose in them before being lit!  My favorite one is the Grapefruit scent.  They come in a beautiful box that would be great to reuse in your house, or use for gift giving.  They are sexy and sophisticated!

I also love candles from Milena's Boutique.  She makes Kosher, soy candles.  They smell absolutely yummy when lit. The Sage and Chamomile blend is my favorite that I've tried so far.  Milena's candles make such great gifts, and scent any room beautifully.  And they have a store in Los Angeles on 3rd Street!  Milena is a huge animal person who rescues all the time, and is a very kind woman.

Also, Red Flower's Spanish Gardenia candle smells wonderful and would make a great gift.

What candles do you love?

Now I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I love Ecosystem Planners & Journals.  If you are looking for a new planner or journal, this is definitely a great way to go.  I have one of these journals, and I love it.

What I love so much is that all of Ecosystem’s products are made out of 100% post-consumer recycled paper.  Even the bookmark that is attached to the journal is made out of organic cotton!  The coolest part is that in the back of each planner or journal, there is an ID number that lets you track where all the parts of your journal came from.  You just go to www.ecosystemlife.com, type in the number, and it shows you where the components were made, and how to recycle them if you want to!  So green, I love it.

You can get them online at Barnes&Noble.com.  These journals and planners are great to get for yourself if you need one, but also would be such good holiday gifts!

I love soy candles too, but I noticed that you have to watch out because most soy candles are just part soy wax, not 100%. My favorite soy candle company is a west coast company called Universol Aromas Soy Candle Company and they use 100%, herbicide/pesticide-free, non-gmo soy wax in their candles. Also they are contributors to PETA and have mostly recyclable products...very eco-conscious. Plus, they have a fragrance line and essential oil line and they smell amazing, just FYI!
I went to a local "home show" and found 100% soy candles. They're called Wick-It Cool Candles by Eric Herbert and Christine Mann, out of Hollis, NH.   They have so many scents.  My favorites are love spell, monkey farts(smells like tropical bananas), Japanese cherry blossom, and lick me all over.  Some of the many candles have funny names.  The best part is you can use the wax/oils from the candles for massage when melted. Check them out at: wickitcoolcandle@yahoo.com
I like the fact that they have an orange one lol. So my color:)))))
I love the soy candles from www.soycandlesbyphebes.com.  They have the best scents, AND they take scent requests.  They are super, super friendly, and the candles are super, super delicious smelling.  My bedroom smells like lilacs even after the candle has been blown out!

These are really good gift ideas. I've never used soy-based candles before but I am REALLY interested to start now!

I can't wait to find them and light them up and enjoy their yummy scents!

Where exactly can you find soy candles in Canada? ( I live in Toronto, Ontario)

I just ordered an ecosystem journal (I'm so excited!) for myself.  I miss writing in a journal.  I also just bought "The Kind Diet"... I've had my eye on it for 6-8 months now and been waiting for it at the library... I got some money for my birthday this week and thought I'd treat myself to your book and to a journal! How awesome! Thanks Alicia!

I have to say my favorite soy wax candles are hand-crafted by my dad!  Our company is called It's All Good.  Our candles are all natural.  The wicks are eco-friendly and the wax is 100% soy.  They smell so great!

The candles are handmade right out of our house!  Based out of Philadelphia, the cop, turned teacher, turned candle maker takes custom orders too!  The original ones come in white and off white to represent its purity, but we can make any scent or any color!  We have a huge stock of scents.  Right now I have Peppermint Patty in my room! YUM!

Check out the website!  www.itsallgoodshop.com

Also, they are available in Cape May, NJ at Madame's Port and in Ocean City, NJ at Ocean City Coffee company on the boardwalk.

The jars are also 100% recyclable and our customers can return the jar to us for a new candle...or you can put fun things in them like spices, grains or beans!

Ecosystemlife: I posted this in the Forum section under Eco-Friendly Designers on 11/29/10, but I think it's a bit hidden there. So here it is again:

Last year, Alicia recommended planners by ecosystemlife.com. They use 100% post-consumer recycled paper and much more - check it out. I liked the idea and the description and purchased the smallest size. It was perfect for my small purse, and it held up extremely well with heavy use. They are available for 2011 and I just bought the monthly flexi-covered (it's water resistant - I've washed it), kiwi (it's a nicer color than is pictured on the website), "advisor" version ($14.17 incl shipping). It has each month spread over left and right pages, and between the months are two lined note pages so you don't have to squish details on the calendar. The last third is devoted to lined note pages for on-the-bus journaling, and there is a pocket in the back for stamps and vegan stickers, etc. It has an elastic band to hold things tight and it lasted all year and didn't stretch out!! I'm saying all this because the website doesn't do a very good job with their descriptions! It's a well-made product (USA), and I'm not being paid to say this.

Have a wonderful and kind 2011!
