NYE

It's New Year's Eve again, and whether you’re getting ready to relax or paint the town, we kind lifers have a lot to celebrate! We also have a lot of work to do in the next year – but before we get to that, I’d like recap some of the successes we’ve had this year.

  1. Congress passed a child nutrition bill that will make school lunches a little bit healthier (not perfect, but it’s progress!)
  2. Congress also passed a food safety bill that will empower the FDA to prevent food contamination (also not perfect, but we will take it for now!)
  3. NASA halted its proposed radiation experiments on squirrel monkeys – what a major, precedent-setting victory. I’m so happy about this one!
  4. Los Angeles enacted a plastic bag ban for all unincorporated areas in LA County (partial victory – let’s lobby our cities to do the same if they haven’t already!)
  5. A bunch of major power players became vegan! (Bill Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Biz Stone, Steve Wynn…can’t wait to see who else goes veg in 2011)

2010 was an amazing year! Let’s all continue to make the world a kinder place in 2011. What are your kind priorities for this coming year?

Happy New Year everyone!

Its amazing to see so many well known people becoming vegan.  My husband, son and I have been vegan for one full year now and feel great!  I was amazed at New Year's Eve how our vegan lifestyle was such a semi-negativly discussed topic - that you can't get enough protein, that tofu causes breast cancer and thyroid problems, etc....  Why do people seem so threatened by our choice?  Any thoughts or comments......

Happy New Year everyone!

I am starting off 2011 right. Vegan! I have been vegetarian for a while but have been thinking about becoming vegan for a while. And now feels like the time. I'm very excited!

My husband gave me a really cool blender for Christmas and I've been making all kinds of fruit and veggie blends and some really tasty loose leaf herbal tea with a new tea pot. I am so addicted to my morning coffee (which I can't drink without milk) so that's been the hardest thing for me when thinking about giving up dairy. But I'm loving the smoothies and tea so much that I don't think I'll miss my coffee at all!

Wish me luck :)

Happy new year to all Kind lifers and lots of love and hugs to Christopher and Alicia!!!!!!

Going to college, learning my drivers ed, learning how to drive and learning so much in the real world. ( just living my life and going to college Just to learn and Pain)

This was a really positive upbeat post. Thank you for posting! All of these little steps definitely lead to a greater good!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great post I heard abotu all those successes pretty awesome!

Did anyone catch the Veg Edge special on Cooking Channel? They featured great veg restaurants, stores, and people all over the U.S. I am hoping 2011 will bring us a mainstream vegan cooking show on Cooking Channel or The Food Network. They'll need a host...Alicia?!?!

Happy Belated New Year to you Alicia.  I just intend to keep on doing what I have been doing the last several years. Signing petitions and making people aware of animal cruelty and how it needs to be put to end. Doing what I can to make the environment cleaner and contiuing to campaign for human rights and equality and justice for EVERYONE!
