Posted by Alicia Silverstone on Jan 14, 2011

Hi everyone – you may have already heard, but I wanted to tell all of you Kind Lifers myself. Christopher and I are expecting a baby later this year, and I couldn’t be happier!

I’m excited about documenting this time in my life, and sharing all of my experiences with  you. I will definitely be posting tons more blogs about pregnancy, and can’t wait to hear your feedback.

Thank you for being such a kind and supportive community. I feel truly grateful for each and every one of you, and am excited to share this special time in my life with this wonderful community!

That is so exciting!!!  Congratulations Alicia and Chris, my roomie and I are thrilled for the two of you.  I found out in the style section of TKL when you were discussing preggo clothes.  So So happy for you and looking forward to hearing how youre pregnancy/birth fare with being a vegan/superhero.  <3

Just seeing this for the first time....Congratulations! I’m so excited for you two!

I don't know if you've touched on the subject yet, but I wanted to share my experience with diapers... I was wondering if you had looked into Gdiapers they are really cool and unlike traditional cloth diapers, you can compost them and save a little when it comes to water. I used them with a collection of regular cloth diapers and it really helped, especially on the go! Let us know what you are planning to do! Megan

Huge congrats to you and Chris! How excting.  My partner and I are discussing whether or not to try for another! A big thumbs up to the real nappies too!

I'm new to the wonderful Kind Life website/community & just saw the great news. woohoo! awesomeness.

You may already have been recommended this book by  friends, family and/or Kind Lifers, but I simply must write - I highly, highly recommend Ina May Gaskin's 'Guide to Childbirth' (or ANYthing by Ina May!).

Absolutely brillaint & inspiring, I read it several times while pregnant, because I believe people need positive, inspiring examples of birth stories! This book provided much of the absolute confidence in myself, my body and my birthing choices (and helped me stay strong despite criticism from people). The stories & photos of various types of natural childbirth were beautiful, while the "info" part from Ina May herself was some of the best education about women's bodies and birthing I read (I also highly recommend any active birthing workshop, and prenatal yoga, which I believe I read you're into). These things are many of which allowed me the skills, knowledge and confidence to approach birth on my terms.

My now 14-month old son Felix was homebirthed, with 2 attending midwives plus my lovely hubby/birthing coach. I am blessed & fortunate for our birthing experience & wish you the best with what you hope for yours.

I am now a passionate birth rights activist & truly hope that one day there is a shift in the negative fear-laden culture surrounding birth.

cheers

Congratulations!

Congratulations! I hope you have a very happy and healthy pregnancy. I actually started a pregnancy blog when my husband and I started going through IVF. Feel free to take a peak if you get a chance. Although I am still not pregnant yet, sometimes it's nice to hear things from a different side. Best of luck to you both! I look forward to your updates smiley-smile.gif
