Janah's July class

Janah Adickman is a sweet, passionate, and wonderfully warm chef who I met through The Kind Life. If you live in LA, you can meet her too! She will be teaching a vegetarian cooking class at Sur La Table near the Grove in LA. Lots of Kind Lifers showed up for her last class (pictured above), and they had a blast!

Here are the details about her upcoming cooking class:

Date: February 19, 2011
Time: 11am-1pm
Cost: $130
Location:

Sur La Table
6333 W. 3rd St Ste P-10
Los Angeles, CA 90036

If you’re in LA, I highly recommend attending Janah’s class. If not, you can check out her blog Delish Your Dish. Janah is a vegetarian, but is trying to go vegan, so let’s all encourage her to do that!

For those of you outside of LA, do you have any great classes to recommend in your town?

Good luck with the class, Janah, and try vegan recipes....they are wonderful, too

Kind-Lifers in LA.....................My wonderful friends Patrick and Jeanne at www.the7thelement.com

have wonderful weekly cooking classes ($15!) where you have the opportunity to learn all about Macrobiotics from two trained Kushi chefs! They have their own line of macro foods found in some markets and now available at many farmers markets as well as a weekly meal delivery.

Let them know that Heather has sent you! Its a great way to get your basics and some cooked food in one!

Billi - I'm not sure where you are in Upstate, New York, but I thought I'd let you know that there is a Co-op in Ithaca, NY called GreenStar and they hold cooking classes quite regularly that are vegan/macrobiotic. I haven't attended one myself but from what I can tell the class is set up so that an instructor/chef does the cooking and explains about the cooking they are doing and benefits of the diet and then hands out samples and recipes. It's only $8 (member) and %10 (non-member) and the next one they have is on Feb. 8th so if you (or anyone else who sees this) is near that area it might be worth checking out.

Hi everyone! Janah's class is 100% vegan - just wanted to clear that up! You can find details here.

hi alicia

If you live in San Diego, check out Veg-Appeal! The classes are completely vegan and a lot of fun! http://www.veg-appeal.com/. You can contact them at info@veg-appeal.com to be added to the e-mail list.

Loved the cooking classes. Highly recommend them. Yep, I'm one of the one who attended the classes. I'm the blonde, 2nd from the left with her elbow on the table.

Just to clarify something for Vegans attending. Most of what was demonstrated was Vegan. What the chefs did on a recipe that was not vegan , was to make it vegan for us. I believe it was pizza, without the dairy cheese. Maybe one other item.  They were extremely accomidating.

This is a must do, if you can make it. My drive was 2 hrs to get down there, but well worth it. Stayed at a friends house overnight. A totally hands-on-experience. That's when you really learn how to prepare things. If you're curious, I think you can access the photos I took down there on my info.  I took lots of photos of the food. It was GREAT!!!  A good value for the money. Like Nike says, Just do It!

One more thing. This is the exact class I took. Same recipes. Food was great!! Do it if you can. It was mentioned in class that they may be doing another one in the future, different recipes. So keep checking out the sur la table website.

Must warn you, the farmers market is also there. Lots of goodies there. Addicting!!
