Janah Adickman is a community member here on The Kind Life, and has a blog called Delish Your Dish. I’ve recently gotten to play around in the kitchen with her... it's been very nice and fun, and we’ve come up with some yummy things!
Anywho, Janah is co-teaching a vegetarian workshop at the end of the month that will be held at Sur La Table at the Farmers Market in the Grove.
The 2-day class focuses a day on teaching you how to make seitan and other protiens, then the next day how to use those proteins in a number of delicious recipes. You can sign up online with this link, or simply call to register.
Here's the menu for what Janah will be cooking up:
Day 1: Homemade Tofu, Seitan and Mochi - Grilled Tempeh Kebabs with a Citrus Soy Marinade over Seasonal Greens - Ice Cream Filled Mochi
Day 2: BBQ Seitan Pizza - Vegan Caesar Salad - Tofu Ravioli - Seitan Panini Sandwich - Millet Croquettes with Avocado and Tofu Sour Cream - Vegan Orange Cream Cupcakes
This workshop sounds great! Especially for those of you who feel like you can’t cook, or don’t know where to start, or for any of you flirts! Or you vegans who just want to have fun cooking and playing... sounds fun to me!
I wish I could go! I’m going to be in Detroit shooting a film called Vamps, but if I was in town I would want to be there.

I read about the film the other day. It sounds like it's gonna be awesome.
I found out the 2-day seminar is $129. It starts each day at 11:00 pm & ends at 1:00 - so you get a total of 4 hrs. of teaching for $129.
Well kind lifers, I've signed up for the class yesterday in LA. Whoppie!!! For me it is a 1 1/2 hr trip from where I live up north from Magic Mountain. Getting a hotel rm. I'll be coming armed with a camera, and a note pad or computer. So very glad this was posted on the site. I swear, I wouldn't have heard about this except for the kind life. Any other Kind Lifers attending, if you don't mind, let me know you are coming and say hi. Looking forward to having a great class in LA
Alicia, you're missing a good class. They are also giving us the recipes, and promised it would be a - hands-on -class. My very first of this kind. The classes I have attended are , well this is the way it is done, they demo and give you samples. I'm excited! There is something cool on getting to do in hands on. I think you learn much better this way.
Wish I could go, but the date doesn't work for me. Will you be posting future workshops?
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to start this new life! I read Alicias book about two months ago, and I loved it of course! I could just really feel in my heart that this is the way you're supposed to eat!! I grew up with animals and they are magical to me. Now I'm trying to convince my husband that eating meat is nasty! He promised me yesterday that he'll read the book. My goal is to be a superhero but I'm having difficulties finding everything. I found umebushi plums but they're not organic. Can you find organic ones? And please can anyone tell me where to find seavegetables?! I read every sign in the vegetable area and I can't find them! I'm excited to get to know everyone here! It feels nice not to do this alone! Everyone.... have a beautiful day! =)
I live in Detroit, but I think I will be in LA that week. Weekend of August 6th. Let me know if you need any suggestions on where to go. I'm going to do some of your recipes this week on my blog. We do cooking segments together - they are 1 and 3.
Thank you for everyone that came to Day 1 of the Vegetarian Workshop. You guys rocked it! Our Seitan, Tofu and Ice Cream Filled Mochi were AWESOME! Can't wait to cook with you all again tomorrow!
Today's session was about 4 hours of hands-on cooking, eating, learning, laughing and just plain old fun!
