I recently discovered a really inspiring organization that all of you Kind Lifers might find interesting.

Invisible Children started as a documentary in 2003 about child soldiers in Uganda abducted and forced into the Lord’s Resistance Army headed by Joseph Kony. Three filmmakers (Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey, and Laren Poole), who later founded this non-profit, told the horror stories of these displaced children and their role in Africa’s longest running war of twenty-three years.

Invisible Children strives to rebuild the areas affected by the war and, specifically, the lives of the affected children.

How To Get Involved:

  • Tell your friends and family about this organization.
  • Donate new & used books or buy your next read here to help educate children in need.
  • Wear a bracelet handmade in Uganda to support those who were displaced.

What are your favorite international aid organizations?

This is a wonderful organization that raises money (virtually no administrative costs) directly for children in Brundi and Rwanda to attend high school. My friend Elizabeth founded it.

I recently saw this documentary. The "roadies" came to my college and I went through the whole sha-bang. It was very touching and a great cause. I bought a shirt to make a contribution. I am a college student and my money is very scarce but I was purely happy to contribute. I also went to another documentary type of presentation about a women who survived the Rwanda genocide. Her name is Immaculee Llibagiza and she stayed in a small bathroom with a group of others for a few months. If you can even fathom that. Her story is very inspiring and she has a few books that you can read if you are interested: Left to tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust and Led by Faith: RIsing from the Ashes of the Rwandan Genocide. Her ability to forgive is so beautiful and selfless.

This is a fantastic organization! At my high school we had an Invisible Children Club which worked with the organization and they gave the most inspiring presentation at a Model UN conference I went to.

What a powerful video and commendable mission!!! We will definitely be going through our home library and donating books.

Can we do even more?  Can we join with Kind Souls Such as yourself to develop a law the Protects Children World wide.  Much like the laws now be created to protect the EARTH.  ALL Children should be allowed to live in a Sanctuary Developed by us Adults.  I have been working with individuals to create just this, but our voice is small compared to yours and those in your circle Alicia.  I honor you and your Stand today. Thank you.

This is a such a great organization I will definitly be donating books, Anything I can do for people in need.

Dear Alicia and other Kind Lifers

I am currently involved in a fundraiser for Invisible Children! Thank you so much for bringing attention to this wonderful organization. I am a member of my Invisible Children Student Organization at DePaul University, and we are participating in the global call for assistance. If you would like to donate to the Invisible Children, I have a donations page set up on their site.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN CHARITABLE GIFTS

These are the totals to date:

Amount Raised: $618,480 Number of Fundraisers: 16,642

Pretty impressive, but there are still many who need help today.

Invisible Children is going to the frontline of the war in central Africa to protect those affected by Joseph Kony's violence. Since 1986, 25,000 children have been abducted by Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army and it's up to us to go to the frontline of our communities, tell this story and raise the money needed for Invisible Children's life-saving projects.

I'm working with my fundraising team to raise money and awareness to help support Invisible Children's Protection Plan -- projects that directly protect innocent people from brutal LRA violence. More information on these projects is right here:

Help me share this story by donating and asking others to donate. Sharing it on Facebook and Twitter is an easy way to do that as well.

Whether you can spare $1 or $100, these children's lives can be forever changed with your help.

Again, my page is: INVISIBLE CHILDREN CHARITABLE GIVING and is VERIFIED and OFFICIAL page of Invisible Children.

Thank you, and much love to my fellow Kind Lifers!
