That's wonderful! Happy for you!

Kind Lifer Kristin Thayer recently sent me her success story and shared the great attitude she has toward her kind diet. Check it out:
“I just weighed myself and am now 17.5 pounds down. Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since going vegan and I am just so proud of myself. I would have in the past been discouraged already because the weight has been coming off at a ‘snail-pace’ (at least that's how I would have viewed it in the past) but I now know that the slower weight-loss is the healthy weight-loss. I remember losing 30 pounds in 2 months before doing a low-carb diet but after I lost the 30 pounds, I gained back about 58 pounds over the next 5 years or so. That doesn't sound so healthy to me now! I just keep reminding myself that I didn't decide to turn vegan in order to lose weight. I decided to make the switch because what I was eating before was unhealthy. The weight-loss has been a super, awesome bonus!!!”
Kristin, your attitude is a great example for all of us! I’m so happy for you!
That's wonderful! Happy for you!
That's great!!! congrats to you!!!! I'm almost at the 2 month mark of vegan and I'm feeling awesome! And I'm spreading the world of all the knowledge I've gained =) I'm new to this blogging thing HA! If someone has any tips to help me out !
Congrats. I love hearing about everyone's success stories!!
Geez Louise Quinc - didn't your Mama ever tell you "If you ain't got nuthin nice to say.....keep your mouth shut." ?? Seriously, like everyone has said, don't be so judgemental. I've loved animals all my life (they're nicer than most people I know) but it just dawned on me recently that I"m actually eating those sweet little things. It's disgusting. Then ofcourse I watched the videos and read the books of how those poor things are treated and I literally almost threw up. Had to stop watching when I got to the part where they were castrating a bull and ripping his horns out (with no pain medication ofcourse) I couldn't take it anymore. So I'm VERY new at this, but am actually really looking forward to learning this new way of eating and am really looking forward to experiencing (hopefully) some of the health benefits I've read about. After I get myself converted, my boys are next (4 legged, furry ones) :) Good luck to everyone on here and Thank You Alicia !! I saw you on a rerun on Oprah a couple of weeks ago and that's what started my realization of all the horrible things that are done to these poor animals and all the great things that will happen to my mind, body and soul by changing my eating habits. I was looking for your book and found Skinny Bitch and read that in one night and I swore I would never, EVER eat animals again or any animal products. I'm getting your book tmoro and can't wait to get started on it. A friend is going "exploring" with me at Trader Joes and EarthFare tmoro and then we're going to donate some items to a cat rescue. We're having a wonderful day of health, love and giving !!! :) Thanks soooo much for being such a positive influence ....give your babies extra kisses for me !
to kristen,
I am a new vegan, not an animal lover. not necessarily an animal hater, their pleasant and all. I became a vegan because of all the health issues connected with industrial farming. Its not healthy whats going on. I want to live a long life. The best life I can live. I'm right with God and He doesn't seemed to be bothered by my views. I'm proud of you and happy for you. I dont belive your narcististic at all. Any person who isn't (or claims they aren't ) at all interested in looking and feeling better is a better person than any I know. I loved my meat and milk and eggs and I am proud of any one who can make the big switch.
I agree that slow weight-loss is best. When I was pregnant with my first daughter I gained 48lbs in 10wks, then lost 30 when she was born. With my second daughter I lost 15lbs half way through, then gained 20lbs in the last 6wks and finally lost 20lbs after she was born, all in 5mths. This was very exhausting on my body and all I did was sleep! Since starting the kind diet 2wks ago, I've lost 2lbs and it's staying off. I feel so much better, my skin is clearing up and things are flowing. I've been off red meat for 2wks now and eating nuts, fruit and greens daily. It has been a little challenging, but if I keep "plugged in" and getting emails from your site, it's now my motivation to keep going. Thanx Alicia and team.
Oh, and talking about the animals...when I was 20, I went to a night club and I was having a great time on the dance floor. The club had just installed TV's on the wall and you want to know what the first video I saw was? Chicken's in a egg processing factory and it showed all the baby chicks on conveyor belts and being dumped down these huge funnels for sorting, then it showed the older hens in cages and the eggs rolling down little metal trofts...and of course this was all to the tune of the dance music while I was having fun (key word "was"). I can say since that awful experience, I've only ever purchased free-range eggs which I used for baking. A few years ago, I watched Lisa Ling on Oprah and the investigation into chicken farms and I've pretty much cut eggs from my diet ever since. It's a lot easier now to bake, because there's so many good recipes out there now. It's taken me 3yrs to finally put together a low-fat, dairy free banana bread recipe that works!
This is really encouraging to hear! I am a new member to this site, so reading all these great stories really makes me feel good. Congrats on your great success:)
