thanks for the recipe.

New Year’s Day can be less of a holiday and more of a hangover day for a lot of people. So in honor of NYE recovery day, I’m sharing my Cure All Tea recipe from my book (p. 290).

Also, remember when you have a hangover, you might think you want a bunch of heavy junk the next day - but the cleaner you eat, the better you will feel quickly. Green juice, brown rice, or steamed greens like kale are great hangover foods. But in my ancient party days, I noticed a huge difference between a veggie burger and fries and cakes versus the clean food.
What are your favorite hangover cures?

@Nicole: You should be able to find Umeboshi Plums and Ume plum products at Whole Food or your local health food store. I found Ume plum paste in the 'Macrobiotic' section of my Whole Foods but, unfortunately, they don't carry the whole plum which has different healing properties.
Yes you can use tamari as a substitute or in addition to. In Japan they sell a drink called Umesho that is shyou and umeboshi you can mix in hot water for a tea that is very alkalizing. They call it a "pick-me-up". Kudzu tea is even more alkalizing and soothing after consuming alcohol or too many sweets has been a terrific hangover cure and remedy for many folks I've given it to, even people who eat terribly. It's a powerful drink. For mail order resources that might be a tad easier to come by and less costly than Whole Foods, please see my links at www.SusanMarque.com Be well!
My cures are usaly, sleep, (mint tea, and a strong hot coffee)
edenfoods.com has all of the ingredients. Stock up before you plan to party.
Kombucha is my favorite hangover cure. In fact, I bring ottle of it with me to the party - that water I've had a couple of drinks and am feeling my buzz, I have a glass of Kombucha to bring me back down to earth. Its a liver detox which makes it the perfect antidote to alcohol.
Coconut water has a lot of potassium. It's best to drink it before you go to bed. Doesn't completely help the stomach situation, but definitely helps with headache.
I'm wondering where to get the whole plums? None of the health markets here in Portland, Maine have them. I did get the pickled whole umeboshi plums (Eden brand), but they are so salty I didn't know if they would count! thanks!
