I'd been looking for a really great pair of boots to wear in the snow and rain and I found them! I got some boots made by Rubber Duck Brand and I am putting them to good use in NYC! They're perfect for this weather. I've been wearing the grey lace up ones (pictured below), and they are 100% vegan. The whole Rubber Duck line is not vegan, just this shoe and few other, but I like this one the best out of all of their vegan options.

Let's all bug Rubber Duck about using more eco-friendly materials, like recycled plastics, in their boots next year and move away from using animal ingredients in some of their shoes... they might listen!
UPDATE: I want to let all of you know that I would never in a million years buy anything made with sheepskin, or made with animal skins. It was made clear to me that this company was vegan... and we are looking into this at the moment and will report back ASAP. Please know that I truly did check this before I posted this blog. I am sad and horrified that this happened. I do know that the grey shoes that I have are 100% vegan. I'm very sorry for this happening, and I have altered the blog above accordingly.
Also, I do like buying vegan stuff from non-vegan companies. It helps those companys grow their vegan roots. If we support vegan products from non-vegan companies, then those companies will get positive feedback from the vegan products, and will create more.
At the end of the day, it's about finding the best choice under any given circumstance. If these are the cutest vegan boots that I can find then I want to celebrate them!
I really appreciate all of the feedback in the comments, and would like to know your thoughts on buying vegan products from companies that are not exclusively vegan.
My bad - Doc's are no longer available - but check out www.mooshoes.com for some great lookalikes!
I'm personally okay with buying vegan products from non vegan companies. I think it sends a message to them that they've done a good thing and the if they continue they'll be rewarded. I'm not saying I don't prefer a vegan company and want to reward them but that is not always an option. EG, I was just on vacation in Florida and needed some shampoo because I forgot mine so I went to Target and the most easily determined vegan shampoo/conditioner for me to buy was Loreal's new line. I know they've done bad in the past but I think it sends a message that if they do the right thing, financial rewards will follow. Also, I was in a pinch and that was the only product that was labeled VEGAN.
I also like to send a message to restaurants that aren't vegan that if they make yummy good vegan food that they will also get a following of vegan customers.
Cmon, it´s obvious it was a mistake, Alicia. Don´t even give it a second thought. ;)
I agree Anita! We all know Alicia has the absolute BEST intentions!! I love all of these great tips she provides.
I agree with Alicia about buying vegan products from companies that aren't 100% vegan. I've been mulling this over for a time, and I think it does help encourage a company to offer more vegan products.
Wanted to let catgirl know that at Target there are natural/vegan hair and beauty products there. You have to look for them in the cosmetics section of the store. They carry Giovanni Say yes to carrots and Alba.
wow, you know, I am new to all of this, and it NEVER occurred to me that there was such a thing as VEGAN CLOTHING, etc... great even more to think about. Great boots, thanks for the further enlightenment
I definitely think it is important to buy some vegan products from non-vegan companies. But it would also be a shame if the smaller vegan companies were put out of business just because the bigger ones keep doing what they always do- swallow up the small fish! So we try to support the little guys in our family and buy vegan finds from other sources when we can't get it from a vegan company.
Love the boots!!!
