sprout eco friendly watches!

I read about these cute eco watches by Sprout on GirlieGirlArmy.com a while back and wanted to share!

Sprout's mission is to make the most eco-friendly watch they possibly can - which I love. All of their watches are 80%-86% eco-friendly... Which isn't ideal, but its getting there! All Sprout watches are lead and pthalate free, and instead of synthetic plastic they use corn resin to make their watches. Corn resin is 99% environmentally biodegradable, and since its made from corn its a renewable resource. These watches are also made with organic cotton, bamboo, mineral crystal (which is a type of glass made from sand), recycled fibers, and all of the batteries they use are mercury free. These watches are also totally reasonable - around $30 is pretty good for a watch!

Another reason that Sprout is a cool company is because of their green attitude in general. Here is what they have to say about themselves on their website:

"We do not claim to be the greenest company around, but we are environmentally aware and we are always seeking ways to be kinder to the earth. We do little things like recycling all of our used paper, turning lights and equipment off when not in use, and choosing mass transit or car pooling to save natural resources. As a company, we are also making bigger changes, like converting to recyclable and recycled materials for packaging, reducing the size and amount of packing cartons and using more efficient transportation methods for moving our goods... We know everyone has a choice and we want to make sure that we make the eco-friendly choice as often as we can."

It's great when a company continues to work toward being as eco friendly as possible.

So random! I was saying to my boyfriend last week that I needed a watch.. I admit.. I was talking about a fancy watch but these are just too cute to resist! I just bought one on amazon.com!! So happy!!Thanks for posting Alicia!

Me too! Had no watch, now I do, YAY...so cute and AMEN, it's REASONABLE. Got a black one from Amazon - alough DANG, I love the blue, too - but since black will go with everything, there ya go - LOL! Maybe the blue one later.... :)

Oh, silly question - do ya think replacement batteries will be pretty easy to score when needed?

Just recieved my watch today! I got a black one! ( So funny , Karine, I was thinking of getting the blue too! Soo cute!)

I will be buying these for family and friends for Christmas. Perfect stocking stuffers!

P.S. I love that the box is a double use, first for the watch , then to make our own "mini grass garden"! So thoughtful!!

Tanya hon, I just got mine, too!! :-) SO funny we had the exact same taste/thought - LOL! Yep, picked it up this morning from the P.O. (I was at work when they came yesterday) and voila - HELLOOO ADORABLE!!! Perfect size, VERY comfy, and heck yeah, I love the box and grass seed - a beautiful surprise, lemme tell ya - I didn't see that described on Amazon. And absolutely, it's a phenomenal gift.

Tickin' away on my wrist right now... :)

Anyone have any thoughts on that battery issue - if replacements are easily available?

cute, but I just bought a casio solar powered watch. this way I don't have to worry about changing batteries.

Thanks for heads up about this company. I had never heard of them and I love watches. They are my favorite jewelry. I got the olive one and really like it.
