Hi everyone – I am excited to announce our newest sponsor here on thekindlife.com:  Susan Nichole - a kind company who makes animal and earth friendly handbags.  Susan Nichole will also be sponsoring the STYLE section here on the website.  If there is anything style-related that you are curious about and would like to see a blog about, let me know in the comments below, and I will do my best to cover it!

Here is a message from Susan Nichole Onofrey, the company’s co-owner and lead designer:

“As long as I can remember, I have adored accessories - shoes, jewelry, handbags - everything.  When I was a little girl, I would sketch new shoe designs.  As a teen, I designed new jewelry from older pieces.  My interests eventually focused on handbags and I was continuously buying new handbags in search of the perfect bag.

When my husband and I began our family, it was important to both of us to raise our children with our belief system that instilled our values of respect and love of life in all things.  As an animal lover and vegetarian, I wanted to adopt a more proactive approach to my actions and choices.

Having such a passion for handbags, I was surprised at my continuous frustration in my endless search for a designer quality, yet animal friendly bag. I realized I needed to fill a void for a handbag with flare, elegance and beauty; without the use of animal products. And so it began.

In 2004, I launched Susan Nichole and my own line of handbags.  All of our bags are created from 100% recyclable, vegan materials and contain absolutely no animal products. We’re a small company and aim to stay that way, producing our bags in relatively small batches for our loyal customers.

We are extremely excited about our new partnership with Alicia and TheKindLife.com community. As a kick-off to our new sponsorship, we will be donating 10% of all online sales this week to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).  Please join us in supporting this great organization and the important work they do.”

pretty bags!!! and SOO much more artistic than those ugly coach bags i see women toting around all day and all night!! i never understood what was so appealing about the skin of a dead animal with a bunch of "c's" scattered all over it... ooh brother. Thanks Alicia!
Hi Alexandra, I noticed your question regarding affordable vegan clothes/shoes. I don't do a lot of thrifting myself only because I haven't found any place that I really like locally. However, I buy the majority of my shoes at PayLess. The shoes are inexpensive and I often get compliments on them. Just be sure to check out the label inside for "all man made materials." I too have to be better about checking out thrift shops. Good luck!
That reminds me, Teleflora will give 20% of their sales price to the ASPCA if you click on this link:  http://www.aspca.flowerclub.com/feature.asp?promotion=CARE&srccode=ASPCA_Care  to order flowers.   Something to consider for Valentine's Day?  ( :  Just a thought.  Is where I'm getting my Grandma's V-Day flowers from...
Alicia! PLEASE do a blog post about the following two things:

(1) Vegan hair care! I know there are a lot of salons now that offer natural/vegan hair color, but I don't know what they are! Is Aveda vegan? I like to get highlights now and then, but since changing my diet to such a clean way of eating and then extending it to my general lifestyle, I hate to put all of those icky chemicals on my hair. But I do love highlights......

(2) Shoes! Shoes! And more shoes! I'd love a post about finding really sexy and awesome vegan shoes. I love Stella McCartney, but can't afford her!
Love them!
I'm always looking for a great,  cruelty free hand bag, its hard to find 'em!  Ive actually been buying fake Pradas and Fendis, not for the savings as much as for the pleather ; )  Well, no longer will I buy my bag from a street vendor!  Susans styles are so fun and very fashionable.  I immediately fell in love with the Teal one, then when I clicked on the description I learned she calls it Marley....my sons name... no wonder it was love at first sight!  Thanks for the link Alicia!
I just got my Susan Nichole bag & it is so cute.  I had it shipped to my office & someone already asked me for the web site!
