For the past two years, I've posted a bunch of kind takeout menus from vegan-friendly caterers in the Los Angeles area. Here is this year's updated edition!
seedlingI have been using Kristina Brindley's Seedling Catering for a while, and they are great. They also helped with my book launch party

They have so many amazing dishes right now that would be perfect for Thanksgiving.  Check out how great these sound:

  • Zinnia - Ripe plantain fritters stuffed with cashew cheese
  • Orchis - Potato blini with eggplant "caviar"
  • Salad of black mission figs, roasted red pepper and fennel
  • Squash, Fennel and Apple Soup – a sweet blend of squash and apple with a little accent of fennel
  • Seedling Galette - seasonal apples, pears or a delightful combination of both on a flaky baked crust.

You can see the menu here and email Kristina to place an order.

Another great place to order a kind Thanksgiving dinner from in LA is Madeleine Bistro, a great vegan restaurant. They have a whole Thanksgiving-To-Go menu, and everything on this menu looks so good, and perfect for Thanksgiving.

  • Soup - Butternut squash bisque
  • Entrée includes - rustic mashed potatoes, pan gravy, coconut yams, pan-roasted veggie medley, and cranberry relish, as well as:
  • Choice of Protein: Seitan - Grilled lemon-rosemary or Herb crusted or Tempeh: Braised or Herb crusted
  • Choice of stuffing - Sourdough-sage OR Wheat-free quinoa
  • Dessert - Choice of: Pumpkin pie or French apple tart or Both

Like Patty, I'll be the only one in my family who won't be having turkey.  : )   There is a place in Orlando Florida called Dandelion CommuniTea Cafe that is offering a vegan and gluten free Thanksgiving menu of a Marsala Mushroom Nut Loaf, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Roasted Root Vegetables, Cranberry Ginger Sauce and Corn. Single serving is $14.95 or $49.95 and feeds a family of 4.  Happy Thanksgiving All!  smiley-smile.gif

Definitely cooking it from scratch.  My whole family is getting together and we will all be contributing our favorite dishes.  I am contributing the vegan anf Gluten-Free pies, my favorite pear cranberry sauce, stuffing, and an undecided veggie dish (perhaps carmelized brussels sprouts).  Yum!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll be going to Thanksgiving dinner with my (non-vegan) family. I volunteered to bring a few dishes so I'm kind of excited to be making and bringing some vegan food to it. This is my first vegan Thanksgiving (my one-year vegan anniversary is coming up in Feb.) and I think it will be a good opportunity to introduce my family to some good vegan food.

My family and I are traditionally celebrating the love in our home as spiritual beings, that are pausing on this Turkey Mourning day, with a few thoughts about the loss of life that is sacrificed in the disguise of morality in our society, with this Holiday Entree-

Hey thanks Smiley I live in Melbourne FL, good to know. However I am making all my own goodies from scratch.  Millet, brown rice and flax bread stuffing with delicata squash and sage, brown gravy, whipped cauliflower and braised seitan....YUM! Oh yea, apple pie and maybe a raw pumpkin cheesecake....yeah, I like to cook:)

I'm really sick of these UGG "commercials" popping up.  Can't someone do something about this?
