TKD Paperback

I know many of you are here because you read my book first. But you’d be surprised how many questions I see in the forums and in my private messages that are already covered in great detail in my book. So, I’m guessing there are quite a few of you out there who haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Well, now’s your chance! The Kind Diet is now available in paperback (it officially goes on sale tomorrow, but you can pre-order it today). Yippee!

The paperback edition is made from soy ink and the highest grade recycled paper that can be found. It's less expensive than ever, and more portable too, meaning you can take it with you wherever you go. So, to all you newbies: If you don’t have a copy already, no more excuses.  Get it, read it and start living it!

The book covers so many of the most commonly asked questions about everything from dairy to protein and all sorts of other nutritional topics that it will actually end up saving you time and energy by giving you answers you’d otherwise be trying to get from the site. Plus you’ll have great recipes and all the info you need on the superhero diet and weight loss, if that’s a goal of yours.

I’m thrilled that The Kind Diet will be even more accessible now. To pre-order (today) or buy (starting tomorrow) a copy of the paperback edition for yourself or a friend, just go to Amazon , Barnes & Noble , or IndieBound ! If the paperback is still out of your budget range, you can always find used copies on Amazon or Ebay – or check out a copy from your local library. It doesn’t matter how you get your hands on it, as long as you dive in and find out what your fellow Kind Lifers have been talking about all this time.  It can change your life!

*UPDATE: The Kind Diet will be available on your favorite e-reader (Kindle, iBook) on or around April 1! Stay tuned for details! *

Hi all!

I've just finished reading "The Kind Diet" and I found the book very inspirational and appealing. Everything makes so much sense and I really want to be a vegan. I find it difficult to stay away from the dairy products though, espically cheese. Does anyone have any ideas that can help lead me to a vegan lifestyle? I'm currently a vegetarian!

Thanks!

I have had your book now for about a month and I can't get enough of it. My boyfriend calls it my "bible" now, because it's almost always in my hands. I have only tried a few recipes out of it so far, but I love the thing's I've tried. It's hard to find some of the ingredients I need sometimes, because there is only one health food store in the town I live in. But I will get them one day! And sometimes, when I feel like I'm falling off track, I read some of the book and get my perspective back on things. I've definitley felt a difference since cutting off meat. I cut red meat out of my diet and very long time ago, but recently I had been eating a lot of fish, mostly salmon or tilapia. But I have cut that out now too and about a week ago, when I had shrimp after not eating meat for about 3 weeks--I felt so sick. It was like the food was just sitting in my stomach. I definitley did not like the feeling! Dairy wasn't so difficult to give up. I use rice milk with my whole grain cereal now and I love it, it's not to thick but not so watery either. And cheese, I can live without. I'm not perfect, or close to it by any means, but I hope that with time I can get better at this new vegan lifestyle!

Alicia, someone gave me your book last year. I finally sat down and read it and your book is what made me decide to go ahead and try to be a vegan. I had only been eating fish as meat for a few years, but still eating dairy and eggs. Anyway, I have been a Vegan since June 2010, and I feel great. It is hard when everyone else thinks that I am crazy, but your book did have good tips on how to handle people and their reactions. Anyway, thank you. I have a lot less guilt now.

I've managed to cut out all meat, soda (not a animal product but definitely not "kind" either), and milk from my diet.  At home even, I'm totally vegan now.  When I'm out in the "real world" though, I still have cheese and sometimes eggs in a breakfast burrito or something.  I'm wanting to get totally away from that though.  That's my next step of evolution in my eating journey.  I weighed 335 at the start of my journey on May 2nd and now I'm at 327, so it's working on my weight already too and I haven't hit the one month mark even yet!  I already feel so much better!  It's amazing what this WOE will do for you.

Funny anecdote, when I told my Texan aunt about my new lifestyle she said, "VEGAN? Do you know they kill and EAT vegans where I live!?"  I just laughed and said, "Well then at least they're getting organic, free range humans that way!!"

I have flirted for years with vegatarianism, but recently my daughter and her best friend both 12 decided to become vegan and had resigned themselves to a life of lettuce, rice and beans.  I bought this book just for me and decided the girls needed to take a look.  They have learned so much and together we have bought more vegan cookbooks and are  cooking through them all!  My daughters friend says she did not realize how enjoyable food can be!  My younger 3 kids are getting in on the action too.  The only one really insisting on holding on to meat is the hubby, but he is trying everything.

I bought the Kindle edition last weekend, and I had the Kindle read to me, and my 13 year old daughter on our trip to California. I gave up coffee that weekend, and I came home and started my the Kind Diet. I am shocked at my will power, and how I am not craving meat. I am not craving bad food like I used to, and I suspect that it's because I am eating better, so my body is getting what it needs. I am getting plenty of protein from plant based sources, and I found great vegan bread and a vegan buttery spread that is wonderful! I had only eaten butter previously, because margarine tasted so gross to me. I am so happy to have found vegan foods that taste just as good. I had wanted to become vegan for a couple years, but didn't think I had the strength to do it. But the truth about the horrible lives the animals are subjected to was the push that I needed. My daughter is doing  vegan too. Knowing what we know now, we had to do it. It's good to read with someone else, because you can hold each other accountable. Live and Let Live has a whole new meaning. Thank you, Alicia for talking about Vegan in a way that meant something to me, and my daughter. Take care.

YAY!

:D

To Kristen Leotaud (and all the other supportive parents out there), what you did may seem like a little thing (buying a book, woohoo) but aside from helping the girls be responsible about their eating and health, you are supporting their decision and that is a HUGE thing (especially to a kid that age).
