Alright, so I know this isn't completely Superhero, but my husband has been obsessed with orange juice lately. He was recently in New York with me, and I resisted at first, as it's not macro... and it's winter, so oranges aren't growing in New York. Though they are probably growing in Florida right now… which isn't too far away. Anyways, they just didn't seem seasonal, so I wasn't down with it at first. Christopher would be drinking it all the time and when I finally tasted it, I was disappointed and I didn't love it. That is until we discovered the Whole Foods 365 brand that is organic and totally delicious! After he left New York I stopped drinking it. But while he was here....yummy!!

And I have an update on the O.J. Front... After drinking orange juice for a while, Christopher started getting heartburn, so he stopped drinking it. But it was fun for a minute, and delicious if you ever want to treat yourself.

I had another wonderful treat the other day at the theater. I drank a decaf Soy Latte from Starbucks in my cute Starbucks stainless steel mug that I bring to work every day and use all day long for water and soup and tea. It was so delicious! If you haven't tried the Soy Latte and you are a latte person, please give it a try. It's creamy and such a delicious treat! The Soy Chai is good too, but I don't trust the sugar situation (Laura Linney is in love with this drink!)… But I'll still have one once in a blue moon. I tried the Earl Grey Latte the other day, and it was good, but was a bit perfumey for me. I would rather have the decaf Soy Latte. I'm curious about the Green Tea latte as well. Has anyone tried it?
And just to give you an idea of how often I treat myself with things like this, I have had 2 lattes over the last two months, so don’t go crazy!
Where do you get the vegan chai tea concentrate? Does it have loads of sugar? I love the Tazo brand, but sooo sweet.
Orange juice = things to consider. Not sure what I think or feel on the subject, but I did find this thought provoking. No, i am not an expert on the subject....the following is a cut/paste article from:
http://organicjar.com/2009/2251/"(OrganicJar) One of the great scams of the industrial food cartel is the so-called “fresh” orange juice sold in supermarkets.
Alissa Hamiliton has written a new book on the subject called Squeezed: What You Don’t Know About Orange Juice
"
"I was shocked after watching this video! I knew that they added sugar but had no idea about these ‘flavor packets’ they added, or how each orange juice company has a specific orange juice ‘taste’ that they use. I want to know where on the nutritional label the flavor packets are listed, and whats in them!"
I went to Starbucks yesterday and tried the soy green tea latte and took the cue from everyone here and told them to leave out the classic. It was Amazing! I won't make a habit of them but like another poster said they make a nice treat and everybody deserves a treat sometimes. Life and food should/can be healthy AND fun!
I drink a soy latte almost every day as well, just had one with my boyfriend as a matter of fact, and I HAVE had the green tea soy latte- VERY VERY good!!! Especially with a bit of vanilla sprinkled on top! Delish!!!
I like the green tea latte but the chai has fewer calories so I usually get that one. Although, I recently tired an Awake soy latte and it was delicious too!
If you try the soy green tea latte be sure to ask for the tea bag and not that powered stuff (it's way to sweet for my taste) I turned it onto some friends at work and now they like it to.
I was a huge coffe drinker. (it's been a month without) So maybe i'll give the decaf soy a try.
Thank you so much for the book! It has changed my life.
forget the latte--get the Americano!! with soy misto, it's half the price and you control the sweet!!
my new vegan bakery,
www.papaganache.com, is coming to Keyport NJ on the Jersey Shore, not even an hour out of NYC!!
we can't beat Starbucks for coffee, but we will have organic fair trade coffees and teas, and delicious cholesterol-free cruelty free yummies, starting 2/26.
A Starbucks friend of mine told me that they put a couple pumps of that simple syrup stuff in the Green Tea Lattes, so I always ask them not to put any sweetener in & it is soooo much better.
